About Us

We are a Christian childcare program catering to children aged 0 to 5 years. Our offerings include flexible scheduling options of two, three, or five days per week.

Originally established as Mother’s Morning Out in the 1970s, the Methodist Children’s Learning Center at First United Methodist Church has evolved into a comprehensive full-week program designed to meet the needs of contemporary families. We welcome children of all faiths, from 0 months through Pre-K, as space permits. Our balanced curriculum fosters growth in physical, mental, social, and spiritual domains through a variety of individual, small-group, and large-group activities.

Understanding that play is fundamental to a child's development, we create classrooms equipped with learning centers. These centers provide opportunities for children to manipulate materials, build with blocks, and engage in language development while exploring essential concepts. Our teachers introduce activities tailored to each child's developmental stage, considering their individual interests and unique characteristics.

We prioritize safety by conducting state background checks and enforcing stringent safety measures. Our educators participate in 12 hours of continuing education annually to enhance their skills and knowledge.

The Methodist Children's Learning Center operates as a ministry of the First United Methodist Church of DeRidder and is governed by a Day School Board, which is ultimately accountable to the Church Council. Day-to-day operations are managed by the Director.
