DESCRIPTION:VFW Post 3619 Chili Cook Off\n\nSaturday\, January 18\, 2025\n\nSetup 10:00 AM\n\nJudging & Eating at 4:00 PM\n\n \n\nThe prep for this cookoff can be done ahead of time but it has to be put together and cooked on site. As well as you need to supply anything you need to cook with such as burners\, pots\, etc. You will also have to bring a table for your items that you are using.\n\n "If PEANUT Products are used in any phase\, PLEASE inform the public"\n\nAccording to the experts\, chili should be judged on the following criteria:\n\n \n\nColor   The chili should look appetizing.\n\nAroma   The chili should smell good. The aroma is usually a good indicator of the taste.\n\nConsistency - Chili should have a good meat-to-sauce ratio.  It should not be too thick\, watery\, grainy\, lumpy\, or greasy.\n\nTaste   The chili should taste\, well\, like chili. And it should taste good. This is THE most important factor. The taste should consist of the combination of the meat\, spices\, etc. with no particular ingredient being dominant. And\, contrary to what most Texans believe\, it should not be so hot that you cannot taste the other flavors.\n\nAftertaste - The aftertaste or bite is the heat created by the various types of spices and or peppers.\n\n \n\nPlating/Presentation - Is it just shoved in a bowl with a spoon? Or does it appeal as something you would WANT to purchase and eat?\n\n \n\nENTRY FEE/RULES\n\nCategory 1- No Beans Entry Fee- $20\n\nCategory 2- Beans Entry Fee-$20\n\nCategory 3- Wild Game Fee-$20\n\nCategory 4-People's Choice Entry Fee-$5.00 will get you a Bowl and Spoon and a Ballot ticket to Vote in this award.- This will be the BEST of All Categories 1\,2 & 3 Voted on by the People.\n\n\n\nSee "VFW Chili Cook Off Rules" section.
